The Cordwainer Spring Series: Therapeutic Art

Interactive Presentations on The Learned Environment™

Come and join us to explore our unique The Learned Environment resident programming – and have a lot of fun at the same time.

June 4 | 10:30 a.m.

Join us for our final, interactive presentation focused on the third pillar of The Cordwainer’s The Learned Environment, therapeutic art. Because art can be therapeutic in all stages of life and is particularly helpful for people living with dementia, this session will explore how we use different mediums of art including painting, drawing and sculpture. People experiencing cognitive challenges have been known to find a new talent in creating art. Residents not only benefit from the creative group atmosphere, but art is also known to reduce cortisol, the stress hormone, no matter a person’s skill level. Residents achieve a unique sense of accomplishment with their finished work and that is extremely powerful.
