Volunteer

Want to make a difference in the lives of seniors?

We’re always looking for volunteers.

The Cordwainer offers a range of volunteer opportunities for members of the South Shore community and beyond. Our life-enhancing programs depend on volunteers and their generous donation of time, making real differences in older adults’ lives. We welcome all ages, backgrounds, and abilities, individually and in groups.

Complete the form below and our Program Director will follow up to help you find the right fit for your interests, talents, and schedule. All volunteers receive training which includes an overview of resident rights, emergency procedures, do’s and don’ts when working with elders, orientation to The Cordwainer and training related to each specific volunteer position.

Some of the roles our volunteers enjoy include:

  • Visiting one-on-one with residents—you can play games, do art projects, listen to music, walk outside, or just sit quietly together
  • Lead or assist with small group activities, including music, art, reading stories aloud, and holiday celebrations
  • Musical instrument player (monthly/bi-monthly)
  • Music school/dance school bringing students for concerts/dance shows
  • Knitters/crocheters
  • Interns are welcome

Thank you for your interest. Let’s get started!
